Capacity Types
Select Settings > Capacity from the sidebar to manage capacity types. Capacity types define the different kinds of work your organization tracks capacity for, such as "Design", "Sales" or "Marketing".
The Capacity page is only available if your organization has capacity tracking enabled. If you do not see it in the sidebar, contact your administrator.
The Capacity Type List
The list displays all capacity types in a paginated grid. Each row shows:
Name — a colored square representing the capacity type’s color, followed by the name. Click it to open the edit modal.
Status — a colored chip showing Active or Archived.
Each row has a three-dot menu with an Edit option.
Filtering
A filter row appears above the grid with the following fields:
Name — text search.
Status — dropdown: Active or Archived (Archived only appears when Show Archived is enabled).
Click the X button at the end of the filter row to clear all active filters. The gear in the app bar provides a Show Archived toggle to include archived capacity types in the list.
Creating and Editing a Capacity Type
Click the button below the list (labeled Add Capacity Type) to create a new capacity type, or click a capacity type name or Edit from the three-dot menu to edit an existing one. The edit modal contains:
Name — required. The name of the capacity type.
State — Active or Archived.
Color — click the color swatch to open a color picker. The chosen color is used when displaying this capacity type throughout the application.
Click SAVE to save changes, or Cancel to close without saving. An Archive button appears for existing active capacity types. Archiving removes the capacity type from active lists and dropdowns, but preserves all historical data.
Capacity types are archived rather than deleted. This ensures that reports and historical data referencing the capacity type remain intact.
Where Capacity Types Are Used
Once created, capacity types can be assigned in the following places:
Global categories — the Capacity Type field on the category edit form.
Project categories — the Capacity Type field on the project category edit form, which can inherit from the global category or be overridden.
User capacity allocations — each user can have weekly hour allocations set per capacity type, defining how much of each type of work they are expected to perform. For instance, Sally could be "Design/20, User Experience/10" while Tomas is "Developer/40".
Assigning capacity types to categories and users enables capacity reporting, which compares actual tracked time against planned allocations.
