Lanes
Lanes are an optional view on the Timeline that appear at the bottom of the grid. They reveal how work is distributed across your team. Click the Lanes button in the toolbar to switch them on and configure the settings.
What Lanes reveal
A normal Timeline answers “when is each Task scheduled.” Lanes answer “how loaded is each person.” Each row totals a person's hours day by day, so you can spot who is over-committed, who has availability, and how evenly work is spread, all without leaving the Timeline.
Because lanes total work across whichever projects you choose, they show a person’s true load even when their time is split across several projects, not just the one you are currently viewing.
Turning Lanes on
Click the Lanes button in the Timeline toolbar. A panel opens where you pick the mode and choose which projects to include, and the lane rows appear docked below the Task bars. If you select no projects, or none of the selected projects have any hours, the panel stays hidden.
Capacity and Actual
Lanes work in one of two modes, chosen with the Capacity / Actual toggle in the panel. Each answers a different question:
Capacity — what is planned
Capacity mode shows the scheduled hours assigned to each team member, day by day, split into coloured segments by capacity type. Use it to plan ahead and avoid over-booking: a daily total above seven hours is shown in bold red so over-allocation stands out at a glance. Past days are dimmed.
Actual — what happened
Actual mode shows the time each team member actually logged. Weekend time is added beneath the cell as a small +X.X w/e note, and a week-total row runs along the bottom. Use it to review where time really went and to compare it against the plan. It will also show gaps where hours have not yet been logged.
You can hover over any cell in either mode to see the full breakdown for that day.
Choosing which projects to include
From the Lanes panel you select which projects feed the lanes. Lanes then total each person's work across all of the chosen projects, giving you a cross-project view of their load rather than a single project's slice.
Expanding a team member
Each lane is headed by the team member's username and avatar, with a red badge when they have overdue hours. People are listed alphabetically. Click a name to expand it into per-project sub-rows that show how their hours split across projects; in Actual mode each sub-row also shows its total. Click the team member's name again to collapse it.
Resizing the panel
The lanes panel shows three rows at a time by default. Drag the handle at the top of the panel up or down to show more or fewer rows. It also grows on its own when you expand a person and there is not enough room.
Lanes are read-only. You cannot drag a Task from one lane to another — a lane reflects who a Task is assigned to, so to move work to someone else you change the Task's assignee from its edit dialog.
